Christopher's Quack Pack
It will be 25 years on May 6th since Christopher entered our lives with an unexpected cry and the opportunity to share in some cherished moments. At 27 weeks gestation, he was diagnosed with Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD), which meant that once born his body would no longer be able to sustain life. Experiencing the development of his life while simultaneously preparing for death is counterintuitive to the presence of hope that resides eternally in the absence of absoluteness. It was said to me in the course of the journey that you can share the love of a lifetime in a few moments. It didn’t really make sense to me then, but 25 years later the heart still knows that love with the same ferocity of the moment I met him. In honor and celebration of Christopher’s brief time with us I created a team for the Hope Floats duck race to help raise money to help other families navigate the grief that accompanies the loss of a loved one.
