The mission of the Samuel Dixon Family Health Centers, Inc. (SDFHC) is to enhance wellness by providing quality outpatient health care services and programs health education, community resources, and referrals. We want to ensure that all our friends and neighbors have access to affordable quality primary care. We make a special effort to serve the uninsured and under-insured residents of Santa Clarita Valley.

With our three primary health centers - the Val Verde Health Center, Canyon Country Health Center, and the Newhall Health Center; we provide immunizations and vaccines, physicals, screening and diagnostic tests, well child visits, preventative programs, family planning, women's health services, treatment of illness and injury, and more. We have two outreach locations at the College of the Canyons and the California Institute of the Arts.

Santa Clarita Aquatic Center


The duck races begin and thousands of adorable rubber ducks will splash down from Bolden Pond into the churning rapids of our man-made waterway and dash through the finisher's chute. If your duck is the first through the chute at the race finish line, you will be the grand prize winner!


Adopt a lucky duck or an entire flock ($5 donation per duck) and you could win a cash prize or one of several other great prizes. The more ducks you adopt, the better your chances of winning.

What time do the ducks race?

The fun starts at 11 a.m.

How will I know if my duck wins?

Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event. SDFHC will contact you with the information you provided with your duck adoption.

Are they real ducks or rubber ducks?

Rubber ducks!

Do I get a duck or get to keep one?

No, after you adopt your duck SDFHC will work hard to train, coach, and make sure they are ready for race day. Ducks and similar merchandise will be available for purchase the day of the race.

Do I need to be present to win?

No, winners need not be present, but consider joining us for our family-friendly event!

Does it cost to go to the Duck Derby?

No, it does not cost to attend the event.

How much do ducks cost?

Single duck: $5

Six Quack (6): $25

Quaker's Dozen (12): $50

Flock of Ducks (24): $100

Can I adopt ducks on race day?
Yes, you can adopt ducks on race day. Online adoptions will close Friday, October 1, 2021 at 5 p.m.

Can I buy merchandise on race day?

Yes. Duck merchandise will be available for purchase from 11 a.m. – 2 the Race Central Booth.
