Our mission is to ensure that all Douglas County families of children under 6 have what they need to successfully parent their young children, thereby fostering positive parent-child relationships and preparing children for success in school and in life.
To accomplish this mission, we partner with existing agencies that serve families with young children. Success By 6 strives to strengthen these partners’ capacities by selecting, designing, and evaluating projects, programs and policies implemented by these partners.
Success By 6 approaches these partnerships with an eye to strengthening families by recognizing and facilitating access to five factors that improve child outcomes and protect families from abuse and neglect. The funds raised through the adoption of ducks will be given to our partner organizations to provide specific supports to families experiencing exceptional hardships. These funds help a family stay afloat when the unexpected happens. It may include providing a family who has given birth prematurely with a crib, and transportation support while their child is in the NICU. It may include providing a working mother without benefits with rent assistance when her recovering from childbirth is prolonged, or other supports to mothers who are laid off from their jobs soon before, or soon after giving birth.
